Usha Akella is the author of a book of poems “…Kali Dances. So Do I…” and released a CD of poetry accompanied by Steve Gorn, the internationally known flautist. She is the founder of the Poetry Caravan, an organization devoted to providing poetry readings and workshops to people at a disadvantage in women’s shelters, hospitals etc. She attended Struga Poetry Evenings in 2006 and edited a special section on contemporary Macedonian poetry and photography in Borderlands.
