Project Description
Elena Damjanoska was born in Skopje in 1976. She is a Chinese and English language and literature scholar and translator. After receiving her bachelor degree in English and General and Comparative Literature from the “Blaze Koneski” Faculty of Philology at the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, she won a scholarship from the Chinese Government for a 4-year undergraduate program for Chinese language and literature at the renowned Beijing Foreign Studies University, as well as a 1-year study of Chinese philosophy at the elite Renmin University of China.
She works at the Confucius Institute at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, where her work responsibilities also include organizing and participating in forums and conferences about Sinology and the Belt and Road Initiative. She actively translates and interprets professionally from and to Chinese and English language. She is the author-complier of the Basic Chinese-Macedonian Dictionary and has translated from Chinese into Macedonian the novella Red Sorghum by the Nobel laureate Mo Yan. She has also edited and translated the collection Chinese Ancient Fables for Children.
