THE SOUTHERN STAR

Where is the place the name I’m looking for
the image from childhood the scribbled wall
the trace the shadow the star
the city that is nowhere to be found
the land called Aldebaran

Where is the dream sought before it was dreamed
the road the sign in quarrel with its meaning
the sea the summer the sky
the herb that hides in the ashes
the song called Aldebaran

Where is the voice heard and understood much later
the fire the old man disappointed to the end
the scar that’s been with us since birth
the colour the love the picture
the woman called Aldebaran

Where is the traveler who is a foreigner everywhere
the root the wave born from within a wave
the river the signpost the forest
the bird the old
the very true the very deceitful Aldebaran
