THEATER IN THE KITCHEN

are looking for four spoons
smeared with food
on the edge of the work surface
two dirty cups float
different fluids are in conflict
on the other side, one funnel
waits for some good brandy
to be released through it
and it’s tensed a lot
colander in the sink
offers leftover Swiss chard
and it’s not overly fun
one unremarkable casserole
shows signs of something burnt
and says the most about us
two plates and a third just in case
hint at:
it will be a rough and nasty flight
