Delphi

The Birth of Tragedy
Marathon
Delphi

Aeschylus’ Orestes and Eumenides

And so we came to the earth’s womb
Will this deaf chasm untie the word
this dry mouth in the midst of dry hillocks
Is it the voice approaching
is it the echo that sends word
from the deserted dens of darkness
towards the empty gaping sky
Everything can be understood differently
and still be true
The fate of the world
is the shadow of man
Hope is to no avail
but holy
What is said
is cursed
And they come along entangled paths
of being
while known and unknown voices
smolder
into nothingness
