Conditions of Body and Mind After You Turn Thirty

(The world I live in brings me) Disappointment… 1. With my generation
(The world I live in brings me) Disappointment… 2. With the statesmen
(The world I live in brings me) Disappointment… 3. With myself
(The world I live in brings me) Acting… 1. Out of Stubbornness
(The world I live in brings me) Acting… 2. Out of Spite
(The world I live in brings me) Acting… 3. Out of Faith

Translated by: Igor Isakovski and the author

My generation doesn’t care about history.
On Sofia streets they forgot
The dead body of Gjorče Petrov.
My generation prefers geography.
On the map of the world they discovered
Manitoba, Perth, and Wisconsin.
On the unplanted fields of their fathers
my peers destroyed the locust
writing scornful haiku verses
on private female parts.
My generation was more in
the statistics rather than
the institutions.
Don’t be cross with me daddy, I too lost myself
I watched the news too much.
I had to stay informed
so that each morning I know
in which country I wake up.
