Late Coming Bones

SCENE ONE (Entrance into the Palace)

“The Dream” – An abandoned square at the base of a bridge; a kind of a wasteland, similar to that where junks are thrown. A spontaneously playing musical instrument lies among the junk, dust and broken pieces of china. It had never been seen before. And a bull, which had become rabid by sounds of that instrument, was snarling loudly.

EMPLOYEE I
Somebody is in the waiting room!
THE OFFICIAL:
Recommendations are not accepted in Tabir Saraj. Recommendations are not accepted because something like this, that is a recommendation, is against the essence of Tabir Saraj. One of the main principles of Tabir Saraj is preventing the outside influence from entering in, or isolating the Saraj from outside influence, means having no recommendations. Tabir Saraj, Palace of Dreams as they call it today, is one of the main institutional pillars of our Empire. People had known how important dreams were and the role they had had in various countries’ and rulers’ fate. But our Caesarean country was the first in the world’s history that raised the dream interpretation toa higher, official level. Our Palace of Dreams was established on a direct request of our sultan and it systematises and analyses dreams of all our citizens with no exception. The ruler’s idea was based on the fact that Allah throws the proclaimed dream on the planet in the same disinterested way he throws the rainbow or the thunder. A dream like this, that falls like a lost spark in one of millions of men’s sleeping minds can prevent the misfortune, the war or the plague that threaten the country and the ruler. This dream can give birth to new ideas. That’s why this Palace of Dreams is not a dream, it is one of the state’s pillars. Here the real situation in the Empire can be understood better than from any research, record, announcement or a report of the police or a governor of a domain of Pasha. Everything that is unclear and dangerous or that may be unclear and dangerous after several years or centuries gives its first sign in a man’s dream. Don’t ever forget that Tabir Saraj is an entirely confidential institution. You can forget all that I said to you, but you may not forget one thing, the order for keeping the secret. This is not a message. This is the highest order of Tabir Saraj. And now start working.
EMPLOYEES:
– Where are you now… Do you see well?! Is it OK?
– No, no, move, move a little more.
– Ha? And now? Speak, shout because I don’t hear!
– Towards east, turn towards east, towards east, a little more!
– And now? Hey, speak … do you see?
– Move left, move left … That’s right. No, bad, bad. Nothing can be seen.
– Why doesn’t it go left, left?
… Like a dream when it doesn’t know the scenes with an identity card, passport …
– Did he catch it?
– No, no … yes already…
– Catch it, catch it…
