Naum Panovski is a professional theatre director and dramaturge. He is also a professor of acting, directing, and criticism. His experience includes directorial and dramaturgical work on more than fifty plays produced by professional theatres in the countries of former Yugoslavia, Europe, and USA.

He has contributed numerous articles to various publications, participated on panels and symposia, and served on boards and in other artistic leadership positions. He has published two books: Theatre as a Weapon (Kultura Publishing, Skopje, Macedonia. 1991) explores various issues of theatre structures and their relation to society; Directing Poiesis (Peter Lang Publishing, New York 1993,) explores the art of directing from a theoretical, aesthetic, and practical perspective.

Currently he holds a position of a Director of the M.F.A. Program in Performance and Society at Rhode Island College in Providence, RI.
