Translated by Ekaterina Babamova and Graham W. Reid
There is a red stone on the shore,
a red altar in a cave above the lake.
If you find a thunder arrow, you’ve found
a crystal which heals fear and illness.
When the stone burns to the point of boiling
the snails in the dry ground pray for rain.
Thee sun’s disc shines above the mountains,
the lake waters lighten the day.
The sun chains the evil spirits
and crowns all the wild heads
so no bringer of bad luck can step before us.
I have sat on the red stone, I have seen
bright paths coming out of the lake
for those guided by their hearts.
People spread ashes in the fields for rain,
to wed the sky with the green grain,
I am a son of the sun and water,
Everyone who thinks deep unites with me.
