Conditions of Body and Mind After You Turn Thirty

(The world I live in brings me) Disappointment… 1. With my generation
(The world I live in brings me) Disappointment… 2. With the statesmen
(The world I live in brings me) Disappointment… 3. With myself
(The world I live in brings me) Acting… 1. Out of Stubbornness
(The world I live in brings me) Acting… 2. Out of Spite
(The world I live in brings me) Acting… 3. Out of Faith

My grandmother taught me to knit,
to start, to purl, to add.
But I never learned how .
My mother taught me to keep quiet.
A Sword doesn’t cut a bowed head.
But I never learned how.
My American bosses taught me
to be tolerant with anyone
except with my brother.
But I never learned how.
For years now I’ve been sitting alone
in this narrow donkey corner,
frowning, angry with the whole world,
a stubborn nameless Slav woman.
