A Howl from the Supermarket of Dreams
Please Don’t Tell Me I’m the Only Man Who’s Forgotten How to Hate
The Mountain Path is Wet
I Just Don’t Want to Know the Score
The Best Years of Our Lives

The Mountain Path is Wet

Will we clothe our own bodies
in full evening dress
and stand up to events that way
or give up again
and turn into cynics

will we leave home
to meet the world head on
or leave our wives
to those ready
to win

unable to keep my rage to myself
I left the house
sat on a bench
and watched cars
cast high beams on sidewalks
and vanish into the night

there’s no creation without daring
love without exaggeration
make it look like
misfortunes
find you on their own
and while you elude them

one day you’ll discover
how thrilling it is
to stand
facing a crowd
