A Howl from the Supermarket of Dreams
Please Don’t Tell Me I’m the Only Man Who’s Forgotten How to Hate
The Mountain Path is Wet
I Just Don’t Want to Know the Score
The Best Years of Our Lives

Please Don’t Tell Me I’m the Only Man
Who’s Forgotten How to Hate

Fidelity is what I promised you
and you believed
I was the creator
of heaven and earth
of round white clouds on your pillow

your face gleamed
like moss in the moonlight
as I told you stories of travels
and picked the cities where
I’d take you
and our kids
it’s destiny, being a poet’s wife
you’ll see

through bush and bracken
slips the foam of this
very day
kindness is easier than parting
fireworks are a forgotten celebration

only algebra remains
incorruptible
pure art
