Michal Babiak (1961) – representative of the Slovaks born in Vojvodina, Serbia. He graduated in Slavic Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad, and continued to postgraduate studies at the Department of South Slavic and World Literature of the same faculty. Between 1986 and 1991 he worked as a teaching assistant at the Department of Slavic Studies in Novi Sad. After wars broke out in former Yugoslavia he moved to Slovakia, where he has been working to this day – as an assistant professor at the Department of Aesthetics of the Comenius University in Bratislava. He also works as an internal dramaturge at the Bratislava Puppet Theatre, and is active in the field of opera directing as well. He has authored the books Tri scenáre or Three Screenplays (1997) and Literatúra a kontext or Literature and Context (1999).
