Kamal Boullata is a Palestinian artist and art historian. He was born in Jerusalem in 1942. Boullata studied at the Fine Arts Academy in Rome and at the Corcoran Gallery School of Art in Washington, D.C. His works mainly focus on aspects of Palestinian identity, above all their separation from the homeland. These ideas are expressed in his work, which is primarily abstract in style, through the representation of geometric forms, as well as through integration of Arabic words. His works have been exhibited throughout Europe, the United States and the Middle East. Boullata lives and works in Southern France.
