F. L. Bastet was born in 1926. He studied litera¬ture and archaeology and was the first professor of Archaeology at the University of Leiden. Later he worked as curator in the National Museum of Antiq¬uities in Leiden. Apart from his academic works, Bastet has published a large number of collections of poetry and short stories. The tragi-comic tale, Felix, was first published in 1986.
